Merezhivo short dress has a loose fit and therefore ideally fits any body type. Voluminous sleeves are generously decorated with embroidery and hand-cut Richelieu technique. Traditional fabric hand pleating methods such as Zbiranka adorn the neckline and shoulders. Floral motifs in the embroidery convey the romantic summer story. Handmade contrasting stitches are made around all embroidery elements. The neckline is lavishly hand-embellished with silver and gold beads (beads are 24k galvanized silver and gold). The hem of the dress is decorated combining both hand stitches and embroidery using the Richelieu technique, which further emphasizes its lightness and makes it elegantly sophisticated.

My Sleeping Gypsy was founded in 2015 by Katya Hermann in Kyiv, Ukraine. Ukrainian society was going through extremely turbulent revolutionary times around 2014. The escalation between Crimea and Donetsk, changing presidential power and committing to a new political routine. At this moment Katya Hermann, a new mother, ex-model, avid traveler and graduate of philology & journalism commits to preserving the beautiful traditional craft of Vyshyvanka embroidered dresses which form part of her mixed Russian-Ukrainian-Kozak identity. Together with Tatyana Kurilovich she created a first collection of dresses under the name My Sleeping Gypsy. Tatyana Kurilovich, with over 20 years of experience in crafting clothes, loves the collaborative process and the historical element and remains The Head Couturier of the brand. Joined also by Stasya Nemirovskaya they became brand partners. Today the brand is owned by 5 female co-founders including Angela Huntbach-Hertault and Elena Vakulchik. All women of different ages and nationalities, united by shared values. The close relationship of the female partners and their shared beliefs has been cornerstone to the growing success of the brand.

My Sleeping Gypsy aims to create wearable objects of art, which go beyond fashion by having a cultural value. In collaboration with fine artists, My Sleeping Gypsy creates one-of-a-kind wearable designs that feature embroidery ornaments, applique, and elements of ancient handmade sewing techniques. Oleksandra Kudryavtseva is the long term contributing artist with whom the brand often collaborates. Oleksandra develops various compositions of symbols, patterns, color and style. We unite with contemporary multidisciplinary artists to collaborate on designs and construction. A wearable garment becomes a canvas for creative vision. ‘My Sleeping Gypsy’ garments are defined by the constant presence of voluminous patterns, various handmade construction and embellishment techniques along with ancient symbols. My Sleeping Gypsy creates one-of-a-kind wearable designs that feature embroidery ornaments, applique, and elements of ancient handmade sewing techniques. As a sustainable fashion brand, we strive to source all materials locally – linens of the highest quality, upcycled materials, hemp fur. We use linen because it's durable, natural, and water-efficient in production. Each new development can take up to several months from initial planning through the finished implementation. We strive to share our passion for culture in the creation of each individual item of clothing. We put boundless awe and love into the working process - to change the world for better together by making conscious choices and valuing the resources of our planet.
