About
Fraulein creates handcrafted cowboy boots that feel like they’ve always been yours—never overly precious, always meant to be lived in. Rooted in vintage inspiration and Western heritage, each pair is thoughtfully designed to capture a sense of nostalgia while fitting seamlessly into modern life.
Fraulein is committed to making boots that are as comfortable as they are beautiful—crafted by hand in Leon, Mexico, built to last, and designed to carry you from everyday moments to the ones you’ll never forget. Every style tells its own story, with distinctive details and personality that invite you to find the pair that feels most like you.
Fraulein's goal is to bring individuality and joy back to western footwear—creating boots that aren’t just worn, but lived in, where nothing is too serious, turquoise is a neutral, and every step feels a little more like you.
Founding Story
We are sisters with a unique style that embodies our brand. Cowboy boots have been on our feet since we were little girls.
A favorite memory of ours was a trip to a dude ranch in Bandera, TX with our parents hosting Scottish friends. Showing them the 80s Texas cowboy experience, we took them to the iconic honky-tonk, Arkey Blues’ Silver Dollar Saloon. The musty smell, smoky air, and sawdust on the floor was like nothing we’d ever seen.
The two-steppin’ and boots sliding across the floor gave us stars in our eyes. It was then that western couture imprinted on our souls. We wanted to create a line of boots that embodies modern couture and celebrates vintage Texas style.
Our late father’s favorite song was "Fraulein" by Lawton Williams, sung by Bobby Helms in 1957. We named our boot line, Fraulein Boots, in his honor and as a nod to honky-tonk nostalgia.

Margaret Walker is the marketing guru, co-designer, and creative director behind Fraulein Boot Company. Her obsession with Western couture began at the Houston Rodeo in the late ’80s, mesmerized by the fringe and flair of Crystal Gayle. This early spark evolved into a global perspective when she backpacked across the world, documenting her travels through what she jokingly calls "retail therapy"—a deep dive into international craftsmanship and design.
Upon returning to her Texas roots, Margaret opened Wren, a boutique curated for those who love to "nest." In 2021, her sister Sarah "popped the question" to start a cowboy boot company together. As lifelong collectors of vintage boots, both sisters shared a mission to bring "cuter boots" to the world. They named the company Fraulein as a heartfelt homage to their late father; it was his favorite 1957 Bobby Helms classic and the song chosen for the first dance at both of their weddings.
Today, Margaret serves as a steward of Western couture, ensuring the brand honors the soil and stories of the land. This commitment to purpose is central to Fraulein’s identity: every September, the company donates a portion of sales to Farm Aid, continuing a tradition of philanthropy that began with their very first launch event.
In just a few short years, Fraulein has become a darling of the industry. Their designs have been celebrated in Vanity Fair, the Houston Chronicle, Texas Monthly, and Cowboys & Indians Magazine. The brand has earned a devoted following of "Fraulein" icons, including country legend Reba McEntire, singer-songwriters Margo Price, Sierra Ferrell, and Carly Pearce, as well as acclaimed author Brené Brown. When you step into a pair of Fraulein boots, you are wearing more than just a shoe—you are supporting family farmers and carrying a piece of honky-tonk nostalgia into the future.
Sarah, the founder and CEO of Fraulein, didn't just start a boot company; she’s reviving a feeling. Her obsession began at a dude ranch in Bandera, TX, during the 80s. While her parents were showing Scottish family friends a "true Texas experience," they ended up at the legendary Arkey Blue’s Silver Dollar Saloon.
Descending those rickety stairs into a haze of smoke and the scent of slow-cooked pork, Sarah saw a world she’d never forget. The sawdust on the floor had a purpose: to let boots glide. Realizing that neither honky-tonks nor footwear are "made like they used to be," she created Fraulein to bridge the gap. Today, Sarah is involved in every detail of the company’s "original vintage" designs.
A former medical device sales rep and marathoner, Sarah’s path to Fraulein was paved by a "blessing in disguise" job loss during COVID. Drawing on years of experience at Birkenstock and Luke’s Locker, she combines a deep understanding of foot health and comfort with a mission to create the cutest, most authentic boots in Texas.

"I’ve never gotten sooo many compliments on a pair of boots as I get when I wear y’all’s!"
Heyyyy! So I wanted to tell you. My sister wore her Fraulein boots all while we were at market and she got so many compliments. She also said they are super comfortable. She says she's had zero pain all day (for our 12 hour days). She'll write you a review too, but I just wanted to share because you are not only creating a beautiful product, but they are functional too! WTG!
