New York, NY – February 7, 2023 - The Phoenix Brand, today announced that it's changing its name to Dinner Service NY, effective immediately. The name change is part of a larger rebranding effort to showcase the company’s commitment to raising awareness around the consumption of plastic based fabrics through its artist support network. The new name comes with a tagline, ‘No Reservations’—which speaks to the company's mission of unity.
Through story-driven capsule collections with music artists, Dinner Service NY produces no-harm, non-gender garments. The brand makes clothing for individuals, not the masses, and its limited edition runs prevent overproduction, preserving the garment’s unique identity and the health of the planet. It’s also through artists and their shared values that Dinner Service NY is able to share its version of sustainability within the fashion space.
“Clothes should make you feel alive,” says Co-founder Gabrielle Gomes. “Our pieces are playful, loud and ready for a good time, but fashion is also a massive source of pollution that we all need to address. Along those same lines, our clothes can say a lot about us. We partner with like-minded artists to inspire us through their individual stories and to help make a positive impact on our planet.”
The name, Dinner Service NY, is derived from a shared, everyday event, one that is a part of our global culture. Dinner is something everyone can relate to. Not only is it a time for nourishing our bodies, but also our minds. It’s a time when friends and families come together and share in conversation.
The brand’s tagline, ‘No Reservations’ encourages freeing one’s inhibitions and embracing one’s vulnerability in order to form a deeper connection with one another and our planet. Since its inception in February of 2021, the brand has harnessed the storytelling talents of its artist collaborators to serve as an amplifier. Each collection tells the stories behind the artist and the fashion industry's impact on our planet. The brand’s mission is to replace the conventional manufacturing processes, one that causes landfills to fill with apparel waste, and plastics to flood our oceans, and define a new path where all fabrics are reused or biodegradable and toxic chemicals are removed entirely.
To date - Dinner Service NY has launched eight artist stores, including its latest collaboration with three-time GRAMMY® award-nominated artist, singer, songwriter, and producer, Tayla Parx. Winner of Billboard’s 2019 “Hitmaker” Award, Parx was the first female songwriter to have three simultaneous Top 10 songs—Ariana Grande’s “7 rings” and “thank u, next” and Panic! At The Disco’s “High Hopes”—in the Hot 100 since 2014. The Burnout Collection is inspired by the 'Burnout Retreats' that Tayla held for songwriters and creatives to foster a renewed sense of connectedness, community and creativity that can often be suppressed from overworking. The capsule is made from non-toxic, ecological alternatives to polyester and other synthetic fabrics.
