New York, NY – August 12th, 2021 - Today, The Phoenix Brand announces an exclusive, limited edition capsule collection with artist and musician, Nic D. This is the fourth artist collaboration since the company’s inception in May of 2020. Inspired by art and culture of the past, awareness of the present, and a greater vision of the future, The Phoenix Brand is a new expression of street art and fashion.

Nic Donovan or Nic D, is an artist on the rise, with almost a million Tik Tok followers, 92,000 on Instagram and over a million monthly Spotify listeners. A husband, father, musician, photographer, and cinematographer, Nic classifies himself as an independent artist and his music as genre-less. His tracks blend a variety of styles together, including singer-songwriter, rap, and hip-hop. Like The Phoenix Brand, everything that Nic creates has both passion and purpose behind it. He had a heavy hand in designing this collection, which portrays Nic’s personal philosophies and his laid back, authentic style.
The “From Scratch” capsule collection includes three non-gender styles: a Bowling Top, a Full Length Tee and a Crop Cut Tee. The black full-length tee and crop tee feature white stitching on the front body and sleeve. Made of post-industrial recycled cotton, the material has a thicker weight and is carefully engineered to ensure comfort, breathability, and ease of care. The Bowling Top is the hero style, putting a modern twist on the classic bowling top, with a camp collar and relaxed, draped fit. FRDI is stitched above the front pocket, a slogan that stands for Feels Right Don’t It, Nic D.’s signature brand.
“For me, it’s about trusting your gut and that’s how I base all of my decisions,” said Nic D. “Do what feels right and not what doesn’t. I’ve turned down a lot of opportunities in this industry because it just didn’t sit well with me. If I don’t feel 100% about it, I’m not going to do it. Working with The Phoenix Brand on this collaboration is a great example of FRDI. From the moment Trina and Gabrielle told me about the company’s mission, I knew immediately that this was something I wanted to be a part of.”
Featured in the back right corner of the Bowling Top is a bee symbol. The same symbol that’s tattooed on Nic’s left arm. For Nic, the bee represents the “hardest worker in the room” and the idea that one of the only things you can control in life is how hard you work. Embroidered across the back of the Bowling Top is the name of the collection, From Scratch, a slogan which appears on all three tops in the collection. Meaning everything Nic creates begins with his own emotions and experiences, with the hope that his own vulnerability, will move people and have a positive impact on their lives. The Bowling Top is constructed with 100% lyocell, made from the pulp of eucalyptus trees, using an OEKO-TEX certified toxin-free process and the engraved buttons are made from coconut husk. The lyocell material has exceptional breathability, anti bacterial, and wrinkle resistance properties with a silk-like soft surface.
The Phoenix Brand harnesses local artists and activists to serve as an amplifier and showcase the stories behind the art and the artist. The company also aims to replace the conventional manufacturing processes that cause landfills to fill with apparel waste, plastics to flood our oceans, and emissions to contaminate our air.
