CEO Alex Fima built a successful 3D printing and machining business and turned it into a specialized firm for aerospace manufacturing before it was sold in 2014. In 2016, Alex and COO Danyell started engineering their first sexual wellness product, the Thruster.

With the rapid growth of The Velvet Thruster, Velvet Brands (formerly Velvet Co) has been able to invest in new Thruster products, as well as new brand extensions under the Velvet Brands umbrella which will launched in late 2021. Among them are Gleam (arousal balms and lubricants, including those with THC and CBD), Boutique Voila (a collection of vibrators, wands, suction toys and strokers) and L’Acier (a line of vibrating stainless steel toys).
