Truuce is a woman-owned, direct-to-consumer bedding brand reshaping how people experience rest. With a patent-pending bedding system that integrates the duvet cover and sheets into one seamless design, Truuce eliminates the nightly struggle of untucked corners, twisted layers, and chaotic mornings. Every detail is designed with intention, bringing order to the mess, calm to the routine, and softness to the everyday. It’s bedding designed for humans, not just mattresses and built to support the way people actually sleep, move, and live.
But the thoughtfulness doesn’t stop at the product. From the moment someone discovers Truuce to the unboxing experience, ongoing support, and the daily ease of a bed that finally stays made, the entire customer journey is designed to feel effortless and considered. Co-founders Nancy Johnston and Kerry Roberts combined technical expertise, intuitive design, and cozy natural fabrics to create a system that looks beautiful, feels cozy, consistent, and completely intuitive, and finally brings ease to rest. Because better sleep starts with smarter bedding and care that doesn’t end after checkout.
Founding Story
Truuce was founded by longtime friends and college roommates Nancy Johnston and Kerry Roberts, who came together with a shared mission: to bring ease, intelligence, and peace to something most of us wrestle with daily; our bedding. The idea sparked in 2023, when Kerry called Nancy after yet another frustrating battle with her sheets and duvet cover never staying in place. Nancy, a CPA and Master Seamstress, saw an opportunity not just to fix one piece of the puzzle, but to rethink the entire bedding experience from the sleeper out.
What began as a single design challenge quickly evolved into months of prototyping, testing, and reimagining how bedding could actually work better and work smarter. With Nancy’s technical precision and Kerry’s instinct for brand and user experience, the two created a seamless, intuitive system that combines the duvet cover and sheet set into one cohesive design built to stay in place while giving sleepers complete freedom to move. They launched Truuce in November 2024 with one clear goal: to help people make peace with their bedding.

Team Bios
Nancy Johnston is the Founder of Truuce, a woman-owned, direct-to-consumer bedding brand redefining how people experience rest. With a background in consumer products, accounting, and textile construction, Nancy brings a rare blend of technical precision and hands-on creativity to every detail of the Truuce system. She’s a Certified Public Accountant and Master Seamstress whose career has always been shaped by adaptability, qualtiy and excellence. Based in Hunt Valley, Maryland, Nancy ensures that every touchpoint with Truuce reflects the same care and intention woven into the bedding itself.
Kerry had a long career in marketing in the Consumer Packaged Goods world before shifting into her entrepreneurial journey. She supports Nancy and the Truuce team with branding and consumer insights, and she's very proud to say that thanks to Truuce, she is finally making her bed every day.
Kevin Lee is a brand architect and founder of Pulse, a branding and marketing agency helping businesses stand out and scale. With over a decade of experience building standout brands across consumer, retail, tech, food, beauty, and wellness, he specializes in translating complex products into compelling brand narratives that resonate in crowded, competitive markets.
Before Pulse, Kevin spent 8 years in New York’s startup and retail scenes, leading go-to-market and creative efforts for high-growth companies and helping shape brands that balanced aesthetics, functionality, and commercial strategy. He brings a hybrid lens to every project - part creative director, part business strategist - ensuring that brand development ties directly to growth and market traction.
In addition to his work with clients, Kevin is an executive member of DC Tech Meetup, where he helps foster community and spotlight innovation across the region’s tech and startup ecosystem.
Austin is the Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer at Pulse. He helps companies scale through strategic design, marketing, and technology. Before launching Pulse, Austin led multimillion-dollar media efforts for Fortune 500s and high-growth startups at three award-winning agencies.
At Pulse, he partners with founders, operators, marketers, and executive teams to build full-funnel strategies that drive measurable business outcomes - from demand generation to infrastructure optimization. His experience spans consumer goods & tech, with a focus on bridging the gap between business strategy and execution. He takes a business-first approach to marketing - combining performance channels, creative, and data systems to drive sustainable, profitable growth.
In addition to managing clients, Austin also serves as a mentor through Techstars (national accelerator programs).
