SHELTON, WASHINGTON –Taylor Shellfish is excited to share the Ekone line of tinned fish has undergone a beautiful rebrand and is now available to consumers and retail, alike. To best reflect the product and the environment in which Ekone is sourced, the new packaging captures the essence of place and natural surroundings that Taylor Shellfish has made their home since 1890. Ekone’s new look represents the commitment to the sustainable growing methods championed through the years. Each tin’s box is inspired by and highlights different waterways of the Pacific Coast and near Ekone’s Bay Center home.
Jada Pearson, Marketing Manager for Ekone, has been spearheading the rebrand. “There are only a few micro-canneries left in the US that are situated near shore that focus on the region's unique seafood offerings, and we are proud to be able to highlight the sense of place on the packaging,” Pearson said. “What really sets Ekone apart is the vertical integration with our hatcheries and farms. Ekone owns the chain of custody from seed to harvest, which allows them to ensure premium quality products for preservation.”
Nick Jambor founded Ekone in May of 1982 to pursue his love for oyster farming and the craft of artfully smoking and preserving oysters. When it was time to retire, Jambor wanted his legacy and recipes to live on and trusted the Taylor family to continue his legacy. In 2017, Taylor Shellfish started the new chapter of Ekone Smokehouse and Cannery with dedication and focus to build off the offerings Jambor had been working on for over 35 years.
While the branding is new, Ekone's classic recipes and premium quality have not changed. Ekone is located in Bay Center, Washington located on Willapa Bay. It is the home and traditional territory of the Chinook Indian Nation. Willapa Bay is a large sweeping estuary in the southwest corner of Washington State and is considered the cleanest and most productive coastal ecosystem in the continental United States.
The Taylor Shellfish family legacy, handed down over five generations, is well known as a trusted shellfish purveyor in Washington State. Over the last 6 years, the Ekone lineup has grown to eight unique tinned seafood offerings including locally farmed oysters and mussels, line-caught albacore tuna, wild-caught octopus, and wild scallops.
Ekone is available through direct shipping, and works with chefs and partners across the U.S. and Canada.
