Living in the alpine involves effort. Active days at elevation, harsh cold or sun. Hard roads lead to better adventures. SMMT believes ‘what comes after is earned.’ In the balance of challenge and effort, and in the moments you earn after with close friends, a truly great life is discovered.

SMMT’s alpenglow color palette is inspired by the mountain sunsets. A reminder to reflect on the joy of a well spent day outdoors with the people closest to us.

Koselig. Community

In Norwegian, the word Koselig implies a calm and comfortable time with friends and family. An atmosphere of warmth, well-being and coziness…often in nature. Enjoying life’s simple pleasures.

Building a brand and community that forwards this notion is SMMT’s lasting mission.

Park City leads through its environmental stewardship. As a brand born here, they endeavor to do the same. SMMT contributes 1% of every sale to Summit Land Conservancy. While never sacrificing quality, SMMT uses primarily environmentally friendly or recycled materials, and partners with manufacturers that share the same values.

Although not perfect, SMMT will continually strive to have a positive impact on the places they live and play.

Founding Story

Growing up on opposite coasts ignited a shared passion for the outdoors for SMMT Outdoor founders, Jamie and Michelle Parker. A collective 28 years at Nike, which spanned three continents, sparked their affection for travel and dedication to well-crafted designs and enduring quality.  

A move to Park City and their shared love of the classic canvas tote, a nostalgic all-day carry that connected their best moments and favorite places, was the initial inspiration for SMMT. Their active family lifestyle inspired them to re-imagine the classic, as a mountain-proof, travel-ready, go-to bag that was as timeless in design as it was functional in utility. 

The name SMMT, pronounced ‘summit,’ is a tribute to chasing the aspirational peaks of life, a nod to their home Summit County and serves as an enduring brief for the brand — Sustainable, Mountain, Marine, Travel.

Team Bios

Former Nike Executive and CEO of Jaybird, Jamie Parker is a consumer products leader with experience across 3 continents.

Over his 14 years at Nike, Jamie led 9 and 10-figure growth businesses across a diverse set of Nike businesses. As the GM of Nike's Manchester United business, and board member of Manchester United Merchandising, Jamie led the product commercialization, licensing and retail of a world renowned sports franchise. As the GM of Sportswear for Nike Brasil, Jamie oversaw the lifestyle business of Nike in Brasil during the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics, including the medal stand collections as well as global franchises like the Air Force 1 and Air Max in the Brasil market. Returning to the US, Jamie was the GM of lifestyle retail for Nike globally, leading the emergence of two retail concepts, Kicks Lounge, Nike's primary bricks and mortar lifestyle retail concept and SNKRS, a members-only app for coveted sneaker drops.

In 2017, Jamie re-located to Park City to become the Brand GM and CEO of Jaybird, one of the first wireless headphone companies for athletes. As a member of the Logitech Executive team, Jamie led all aspects of the global brand and business.

After years of running global brands, Jamie and his wife Michelle launched SMMT Outdoor in June 2023. Two decades of experience leading product creation, merchandising, marketing, operations and go-to-market and over seven years abroad traveling the world, inspired the long-time dream of launching their own brand. A brand inspired by mountain town living, but bringing a careers worth of lessons on quality craftsmanship, inspiring and impactful brand values, and a deep understanding and desire to serve consumer needs.
