They take a field-first, micro farming and fermenting approach to wine making with an unrelenting eye to detail, meaning 1,403 precise steps are followed in their wine making process to ensure the journey from vineyard to glass is nothing short of exceptional. What's more unique to Sinegal are their efforts towards sustainability: winery operations are now 100% “off the grid”, meaning they take all available precautions to ensure they are treading as lightly as possible when farming, crafting, and producing their wines.
Founding Story
Founded in 2013 by Father and Son duo David and Jim Sinegal, Sinegal Estate Winery is reflection of their shared passion for not only incredible wine but delivering an unparalleled customer experience. Looking for a way to spend time together and build something from the ground up, the Sinegals leaned on their expertise in consumer products and the retail space. Jim Sinegal was the co-founder and former CEO of Costco; David worked at Costco for more than 20 years before pursuing a career in consumer products then global health. David knew that transitioning from product development to vintner would require more than just a profound love of wine - it would involve moving from Seattle and diving head first into life at the Estate. Being at the Estate full time inspires David every day to create a 360-degree guest experience that includes exceptional wine, delicious food and a Napa Valley experience like none other.
After purchasing the property, David had ambitious but focused goals for the project: preserve traditions, cherish the land, modernize the facilities and deliver an authentic experience. 10 years, a massive tasting room and production facility build out (and 100-point wine scores) later, Sinegal Estate wines are found in 46 states and 6 countries world wide.
Never one to sit still for long, David Sinegal's work experience runs the gamut from Costco and Frito Lay to start up and joint venture companies. David is a keen business strategist and visionary with a passion for marketing and innovation. And, of course, an unabashedly obsessive eye for detail.
