Founded by former health journalist turned snack-maker Nancy Kalish, the brand breaks all the rules of traditional baking with plant-based, top 11 allergen-free cookies, brownies and bites that everyone can enjoy.

Founding Story

Founder and CEO Nancy Kalish has always had a serious sweet tooth. As a former health journalist and certified health coach, she spent years writing about nutrition, wellness, and healthy living—yet she often found herself craving the kinds of treats she knew weren’t the best for her. Determined to solve this contradiction, Nancy began experimenting in her Brooklyn kitchen, searching for a way to create baked goods that were as good for you as they were delicious.

Her “ah-ha” moment came when she turned to an unlikely ingredient: chickpeas. Naturally protein-rich, nutrient-dense, and sustainable, chickpeas became the foundation of recipes that tasted indulgent but fit into a healthier lifestyle. After countless dirty pans and plenty of trial and error, Nancy finally cracked the code—proving that cookies and brownies could be both wholesome and wildly craveable.

What started as a personal mission quickly grew into Rule Breaker Snacks, a brand built on breaking the rules of traditional baking. Today, Nancy leads the company with the same determination and playful spirit that sparked its beginnings, proving that when passion meets purpose, you can create something that truly changes the way people snack.
