Founding Story
Nodpod was born out of one sleepless night on an RV trip when founder, Melissa Bamberg, used the sleeve of a sweatshirt as a makeshift eye mask to block out a glaring light. The next day, she searched for a strap-free sleep mask only to discover that it didn’t exist. That eureka moment sparked the creation of Nodpod.
Blending Deep Touch Pressure (the calming science behind weighted blankets) with the soft, mold-resistant fill of PE beads (like those in Beanie Babies), Melissa designed the first-ever strap-free weighted sleep mask to make it easier to chill more, stress less, and sleep better.
Starting in her kitchen with a sewing machine and a dream, Melissa built Nodpod from the ground up—packing orders herself and debuting at her first trade show in 2015. In 2019, Nodpod gained national attention on Good Morning America, helping introduce Deep Touch Pressure to an ever wider audience.
Today, Nodpod is sold in major retailers like Nordstrom, Anthropologie, and Barnes & Noble, and has been featured in GQ, Goop, Rolling Stone, and more. However, most importantly, it continues to help people everywhere get the sleep they deserve.
