About
Maison Vernhes Alliance (MVA) is a wine community built for those who value discovery over convention. Rooted in a farmhouse in Val d’Orcia, Tuscany, MVA brings together a global network of independent winemakers and curious members through a shared commitment to craft, authenticity, and story. Its approach is guided by a simple belief: the most meaningful wines are often the ones least seen, shaped by hands, places, and traditions that live just beyond the familiar.
At the heart of MVA is a ritual of blind curation at Maison Vernhes, where wines are chosen on integrity alone and where returning winemakers help select those who come next—creating a living alliance across regions and generations. This philosophy is captured in what MVA calls The Uncharted: a quiet pursuit of wines and stories that sit off the map, waiting to be found and shared. It is not a club, but a compass—guided by curiosity, and defined by those who follow it.
Founding Story
Maison Vernhes Alliance began with a frustration.
Laurent Vernhes kept finding wines he loved—bottles with character, made with care, often discovered by chance. Within a year or two, they would be discovered more widely. Prices would climb. What was once accessible was no longer.
It led to a simple realization: there are countless beautiful wines in the world, but they don’t stay that way for long. And most people don’t have the time, knowledge, or access to keep finding them.
Having seen how a community of discerning travelers surfaced the world’s most interesting hotels through his previous company, Tablet Hotels, he recognized a similar opportunity in wine. MVA was created as a response. Not to chase what’s already known, but to keep discovering what isn’t—and to share that process with others.
Maison Vernhes gave the idea a home in Tuscany—a place to gather, taste without labels, and choose wines on what’s in the glass alone. What began as a personal search became a shared one: an alliance between those who make honest wine and those who seek it out.
Team Bios
Laurent Vernhes is the founder of Maison Vernhes Alliance (MVA), a wine community built around discovery, craft, and shared curiosity. He previously founded Tablet Hotels, a platform that brought together a global community of travelers to uncover distinctive, independently minded hotels, which was later acquired by the Michelin Guide.
After years of discovering small producers and seeing how quickly great wines become widely known, Vernhes founded MVA to create a different model. One rooted in ongoing discovery rather than established labels. From Maison Vernhes in Tuscany, he leads a process of blind tasting and collaborative selection, bringing together winemakers and members to shape each collection.
His work focuses on finding what is still overlooked, and building communities around it.
