Line in the Sand is a line of active/waterwear and accessories that take a stand for empowering women and the planet. Their various UV swim leggings, tops and dresses are made from recycled materials and 100% of the profits go to cancer and ocean organizations. Line in the Sand also has all of the accessories a woman (now men too!) need for a day in the sun including hats, water bottles, tees and sweatshirts. Their line is about bucking traditional swimwear that holds us back, feeling great in our bodies, and focusing on what really matters - enjoying the time we have on the water and the planet. Line in the Sand wants to empower women to get outside and dive into what they love with nothing holding them back.

Line in the Sand pieces are made of recycled plastics and waste and made in the USA.

Founding Story

Line in the Sand founder, Lynne O'Brien, was inspired to start this business when she was diagnosed with leukemia and her doctors advised her to stay out of the sun as she is at increased risk for melanoma. Her favorite hobbies are outside - mostly in or near the water. Boating, sailing, paddle boarding, swimming etc plus golf and pickleball. She knew she wouldn't stop those activities so sought out clothing she could wear in the water. When she found none that fit or were her style, she created her own.

Aha moment: Many of her friends also wouldn't go to the beach or pool because they would not wear a bathing suit. On a girls trip one woman's luggage didn't come. While everyone else was hiding behind towels wearing bathing suits (essentially what is like underwear (!), she was body surfing in the waves comfortably and protected. All of these women feel our product is life changing. And younger women wear Line in the Sand over their bikinins, to protect their skin.

Line in the Sand creates outfits so the pieces can be worn interchangeably.

They are the only brand they know of in this category who gives 100% of profits to cancer and ocean organizations.

Line in the Sand combines of Lynne O'Brien's passions - her love of the oceans and watersports, helping to cure cancer, and preserving the oceans.

She is a tireless advocate for cancer research and patient advocacy, currently serving on three national boards: The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), Cancer Support Community, and Prevent Cancer Foundations. A Princeton and Georgetown graduate, she also served on VIce President Biden's Cancer Moonshot ream as a policy analyst, and worked as a lawyer in healthcare policy and legislative efforts at the state and federal level for over a decade.
