With our Original Polo, John wanted something that exemplified the spirit of Southern California and could stand with the East Coast brands he grew up with. The idea of a surfer in a moment of thought came to mind and fit perfectly for its focus on an active lifestyle and appreciating what’s in front of them. The rest is history.

The Johnnie-O lifestyle is an active one rooted in quality clothing, friendships and time. Few activities illustrate that better than golf, which is why we pay extra mind to create the highest quality golf gear. It also doesn’t hurt when your founder is a former NCAA and Senior’s Open Championship gofer.

Founding Story

I grew up in the north of Chicago in a town called Winnetka; a land of blue blazers, khaki pants and penny loafers. My college years introduced me to the west coast by way of UCLA where I found that my button-up shirts and sport coats weren’t getting as much play as my flip-flops and t-shirts. It got me wondering why there wasn’t a brand that could meet somewhere in the middle. So in 2005 I set sail and started johnnie-O as something that could combine these two worlds in the best way possible. We’ve had a blast on this journey and feel that in many ways it is really just beginning. I’m excited about what we’ve created and even more excited about what’s to come.
