JOC Goods brings artisan Japanese tableware and kitchenware from small kilns and workshops in Japan to your home. Our shop is the e-commerce division of Just One Cookbook (JOC), the Internet’s #1 English-language Japanese recipe site. Every item is handpicked by JOC creator Namiko Hirasawa Chen to help you beautifully plate your home-cooked meals.
As a new division of the recipe website Just One Cookbook, JOC Goods grew out of a desire to provide timeless and high-quality Japanese pieces that anyone can own. It is a natural extension of Just One Cookbook’s mission to teach home cooks how to prepare and enjoy delicious Japanese meals. We believe that beautifully plated food can bring joy and happiness to people’s lives.
Founding Story
Every product at JOC Goods is personally curated by Namiko (Nami) Hirasawa Chen, the creator of Just One Cookbook. Nami was captivated from a young age by the beauty and craftsmanship of Japanese ceramics while growing up in Yokohama, Japan. She later began to collect tableware with a deep respect and admiration for the work of Japanese artisans.
In response to this growing demand for artisan Japanese tableware, we launched JOC Goods in late 2024. With the knowledge that Nami has gained over the years as a tableware collector and food stylist for her website, we’re pleased to offer her curated collection of products that she believes you’ll love.
Team Bios
Namiko Hirasawa Chen is the creator of Just One Cookbook, the #1 English-language website for Japanese recipes. Nami believes that anyone can cook traditional and modern Japanese dishes with confidence by following her accessible, step-by-step instructions and videos.
To help home cooks prepare meals with the right tools and present them beautifully, Nami launched JOC Goods, an online shop dedicated to artisan-made Japanese tableware and kitchenware.
Born and raised in Yokohama, Japan, she now lives in San Francisco, California, with her family.
