About
Hast knives combine award winning modern design with superior performance.
Thanks to the function-focused minimalistic design, patented Matrix Powder Steel and innovative engineering, Hast knives are ultra-sharp, durable, versatile, easy-to-maintain, and also a visual delight.
Hast's mission is to make meaningful designs and products to help rediscover the joy of everyday activities, starting with cooking.
The name Hast came from the Swedish word, meaning speedy/fast. It also means “have” in Old English. The name reflects our function-focused, minimalist design approach, and also the chef’s mindset: focused, creative, and present.
Founding Story
After a 3-year development journey, Hast was funded on Kickstarter in 2019, by early believers around the globe. It was created by Elliot Cao in pursuit of the simple goal to make a kitchen knife that’s more relevant to modern cooking: more fun, more creative, and more inspiring.
With the support of passionate chefs around the world, Hast is able to roll out a full line of kitchen knives at a great price, starting from $69, ($69 for a paring knife, $99 for a chef's knife).
Team Bios
Prior to creating Hast, Elliot worked as a consultant in marketing and branding for agencies and companies such as FutureBrand, Weber Shandwick & Nivea. Elliot has always had a passion for cooking, industrial design, material science, and engineering. Elliot is also a certified Les Mills instructor, a certified trainer, and a nutrition specialist.

Testimonials
I would definitely recommend for all types of kitchen/home use. Usually, I’ve had to buy a very high- end & expensive Japanese knife to find this type of quality.
It’s a great knife, cuts very well and it keeps its edge for a good amount of time. I also love the thin blade, lightweight, and great balance.
It's so amazing to use. It feels comfortable to hold in my hand, and it's so incredibly sharp that it will glide through anything. Whether I cut onions, tomatoes, carrots or other vegetables, it slices them all easily. And it doesn't seem to dull with use.
