About
Girl Guide Coaching's dedication to neurodiverse girls spans over a decade and isn’t just a timeline; it’s a testament to their unwavering commitment and deep understanding of this unique population. Girl Guide Coaching's custom-built coaching programs for teen and tween girls' aren’t a theoretical concept; it’s the outcome of years of pain, learning, growth and reinvention using all of the tools at the founders disposal to understand and support her own neurodiverse daughter with ADHD, Dyslexia and anxiety. For teens and tween girls negative school experiences generate twice the emotional burden in neurodiverse girls as compared to their neurotypical classmates, which is significantly correlated with increased depression and anxiety. Add on learning disabilities like dyslexia, processing issues and/or working memory issues and there is a perfect storm for diagnoses-based anxiety and depression. Girl Guide Coaching's founder cracked the code on this challenge to create the only program in the US that is a scientifically validated roadmap to help these girls.
Girl Guide Coaching programs are designed to provide tangible, measurable shifts to last her a lifetime. Teaching her to move from a place of being overwhelmed and stuck to one of self-empowerment and emotional stability. The foundation of this transformation lies in empowering her with the knowledge, power, and confidence to be the (Girl) boss of her mind – teaching her to actively manage her thoughts and feelings, rather than being controlled by them. When a family partners with Girl Guide Coaching, they are choosing a path that combines deep empathy with scientifically backed-brain based results for conditions like ADHD/ADD, Dyslexia, and AuDHD.
Founding Story
The rise of Girl Guide Coaching began when the founder, Angela's daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia in kindergarten. After the costly, and surprising, diagnoses it was recommended that her young daughter be put on medicine for ADHD. From there Angela was given the phone number of a therapist and wished a good day. The months and years that followed were filled with confusion, pain, more therapy, more diagnoses and more unanswered questions. When Angela's daughter was 9, Angela came to understand that you can't medicate for self-worth or to thrive when social norms tell you there is something wrong with being neurodivergent. Angela began to look for a coach that worked only with neurodivergent girls to work with her daughter so that there would be no more talk about diagnoses or related problems. An understanding 3rd party would be able to support Angela's message of the positives of her neurodivergent personality and not leave her asking or feeling, "what is wrong with me". There was no such resource available and after 4 years of certification work and study, Angela became the resource she so desperately wanted for her daughter. Girl Guide Coaching is an active mentor, cheerleader and coach to neurodivergent teen and tween girls throughout the country.
