Founding Story

Jesus Gutierrez and Sergio Aragon are the dynamic duo behind Gay Pride Apparel.

From their humble beginnings as best friends since 6th grade in Phoenix, Arizona, to embarking on separate college journeys, and eventually falling in love and moving to chase their dreams in the vibrant streets of New York City.

Their journey to creating Gay Pride Apparel began with a simple yet profound moment during Pride 2018 in New York City. Witnessing pride being washed away from the sidewalks on July 1st left a lasting impression on them. It was then that they realized the need for a space where people could embrace their pride every day of the year.

In January 2019, fueled by passion and determination, they officially brought Gay Pride Apparel to life. What started as a small endeavor with a monumental mission has surpassed their wildest expectations. They have worked with names such as HBO, Penguin Random House, ELF Cosmetics, Shopify, and in 2023 were featured inside 1300+ Walmart Stores across the country.

Today, they stand proudly, knowing that their little shop has become a beacon of empowerment and celebration for the LGBTQ+ community worldwide. And it's all thanks to the unwavering support of incredible individuals around the globe.

Team Bios

Sergio Aragon was born on May 26, 1995, in the low-income and minority community of Marvale in Phoenix, Arizona. Sergio is the oldest of 4 siblings and was born to Mexican parents. He is the oldest sibling and credits this as the reason he always has been hungry for more. During his senior year of high school, he worked part-time and participated in spots to secure money for college. He knew college would be the only way out of Phoenix for him, and he dedicated countless hours to making this a reality.

From a young age, Sergio demonstrated a keen eye for design and fashion, which led him to the University of Arizona, where he obtained a bachelor of science in Retail and Consumer Science. He was also involved in leadership roles related to academic excellence and in fashion-focused organizations. During his time at the U of A, he learned the business of fashion, which complimented his keen eye for design and fashion.

In 2024, he decided to pursue entrepreneurship full-time and leave his role at Uniqlo for a career of social impact and LGBTQ+ leadership and to become a leader as a First-Generation Mexican-American entrepreneur.

Jesus Gutierrez was born on March 24, 1995, in the low-income and minority community of Maryvale in Phoenix, Arizona. He is the oldest of 4 and born to undocumented immigrant parents from Mexico (Durango & Chihuahua). As the oldest sibling, he has always held the responsibility of leading as a positive role model, always striving for more and ensuring that he makes his immigrant parents proud.

During his teens years, he resided in a household marked by domestic violence, necessitating moving into domestic violence shelters to escape the abuse. This adversity led him down a path of leadership and entrepreneurship as he held student government positions from the start of 7th grade all the way through college and would even sell computer repair services to help his family with rent.

Jesus graduated Maryvale High School and attended Arizona State University, where he held several leadership roles in student organizations. He eventually dropped out because he was working full-time while in school and was presented with a career opportunity even before obtaining a degree.

He now has over 10 years of professional experience working across numerous industries, from the non-profit sector to Fortune 10 companies, such as his most recent employer, Apple Inc.

In 2024, he decided to pursue entrepreneurship full time and leave his role at Apple Inc. for a career of social impact, LGBTQ+ leadership, and to become a leader as a First-Gen Mexican-American entrepreneur.
