I started out building custom furniture in South Dakota. Wood, welded steel, the whole deal. The work was meaningful but custom pieces only reach a handful of people. I wanted to make things that could get into more homes. So I shifted focus to smaller, functional objects that people interact with daily and started Figura Studio. My background is in engineering. I am a full time mechanical engineer and Figura is where I get to combine the engineering side with actual product design. The Roto was the first test of that. I saw a toilet paper holder that hadn’t changed in over a century and thought I could make it better. Filed a patent, prototyped over 50 units, and started selling. Since then it’s been picked up by House Digest and featured in my hometown paper. Figura is just getting started. There’s a full line of home products coming.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
