About
Figura Studio is a product design and manufacturing studio based in Wichita, Kansas. The name comes from the Latin word for “shape” or “form.” The studio’s focus is on home goods that make everyday objects work better through simple, intentional design. Things that feel substantial, look clean, and last decades.
Figura has partnered with LifeQuest, a residential services organization in Mitchell, South Dakota, to provide accessible hardware for individuals with limited mobility and dexterity. The studio is built around the idea that good design gives functionality to simple forms, and that the objects people use most often deserve the most attention.
Founding Story
I started out building custom furniture in South Dakota. Wood, welded steel, the whole deal. The work was meaningful but custom pieces only reach a handful of people. I wanted to make things that could get into more homes. So I shifted focus to smaller, functional objects that people interact with daily and started Figura Studio. My background is in engineering. I am a full time mechanical engineer and Figura is where I get to combine the engineering side with actual product design. The Roto was the first test of that. I saw a toilet paper holder that hadn’t changed in over a century and thought I could make it better. Filed a patent, prototyped over 50 units, and started selling. Since then it’s been picked up by House Digest and featured in my hometown paper. Figura is just getting started. There’s a full line of home products coming.
