Dekáf Coffee Roasters, marks its first year in business, reflecting on a year defined by focus, growth, and a clear mission: to bring specialty-level craft and range to fully decaffeinated coffee.
Founded in Salem, Massachusetts, Dekáf launched with the belief that quality should define coffee - not caffeine. Over the past year, Dekáf has built a diverse lineup of single origins, signature blends, low-caffeine offerings, rotating releases, and subscription programs, all centered around precision roasting and transparency.
In its first year, Dekáf has also made several meaningful shifts. The company transitioned its entire lineup to be exclusively Swiss Water® Processed and has become an official Swiss Water® Roasting partner. The partnership reinforces its commitment to clean, chemical-free decaffeination. The team has expanded from the original co-founding team to include a third team member, reflecting steady operational growth. At the same time, Dekáf has continued exploring new ways to engage coffee drinkers, from curated bundles to limited seasonal releases that challenge expectations around decaf.
To commemorate its anniversary, Dekáf is releasing a limited small-lot Nicaragua from Finca Los Papales in the Jinotega region. This limited-edition release is offered in two distinct roast expressions.
Rather than presenting the coffee as a single roast, the dual expression explores how development transforms flavor. The Light Expression, roasted in a Nordic style, emphasizes clarity and lift, revealing notes of apple, honeydew, and sugarcane juice. The Dark Expression, roasted in a Vienna style, deepens caramelization and body, offering dark caramel, baker’s chocolate, and toasted walnut.
By showcasing the same origin through two opposing roast philosophies, Dekáf underscores its core belief: decaf deserves the same technical range, experimentation, and care as any specialty coffee.
The Birthday Editions and accompanying Birthday Bundle are available in limited quantities in 12oz and 16oz formats, roasted to order.
