About
CampingKiddos.com is a comprehensive website focused on getting more families outside. Parents will find easy, accessible guides on kid-friendly hiking trails, family campgrounds, and national parks itineraries, as well as road trip routes, camping and hiking tips, and outdoor gear reviews.
Camping Kiddos is dismantling the idea that being "outdoorsy" is for an elite group, and the site encourages anyone who wants to spend quality time with the kids in their lives to find a hiking trail or campground near them.
Founding Story
In 2022, founder Natalie Vereen-Davis was an English professor teaching professional writing, rhetoric, and literature at her local community college.
She had just purchased her first camper and couldn't find enough reliable resources online to help her plan trips that were appropriate for her entire family. Most of what was out there seemed to be focused on twenty-somethings who spent their weekends doing long-distance backpacking trips.
But Natalie knew that was just a tiny slice of what being outdoorsy could look like, so she set out to combine her loves of writing and travel. The end result was CampingKiddos.com, a resource to help other families on the trail, at the campground, in national parks, on the road, and beyond. She writes her itineraries and guides with kids in mind, noting areas where they might struggle on trails or where parents can get baby formula near national parks.
Every post is based on her family's travels around the United States, so readers know that the advice and suggestions they're getting are from a parent who has been there (and usually handing out trail snacks in process!).
In the last three years, Natalie and her family have traveled more than 25,000 miles in their camper, spending a combined 7 months exploring 34 states and 25 national parks--and there are no plans to slow down anytime soon!
