About
Ama is a mission-driven Northern Italian restaurant just three blocks from the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. We’re open all day—serving Italian coffee, housemade pastries, and focaccia in the morning, a full lunch daily, and weekend brunch. By evening, we become a lively aperitivo bar and dinner destination rooted in heritage cooking and clean, nourishing ingredients. We believe health and sustainability go hand in hand—using no industrialized oils, no refined sugar, and sourcing organically and regeneratively. Everything is made from scratch in our all-electric kitchen. In just one year, we’ve been named a 2025 DC Sustainability Award winner, recognized by Gambero Rosso as one of the Top Italian Restaurants in the world, and nominated for Best New Restaurant by the RAMW RAMMYs. We've been featured in the New York Times and on the TODAY show.
