So you need a new duvet cover. You’ve been putting it off for ages. Perhaps the zipper on your old one is broken, or maybe it’s totally the wrong size for your duvet insert (guilty!). Perhaps when you slink into bed, your duvet cover feels more like cheap plastic fabric rather than a soft and cozy cloud of puff and pillows.
Whatever the case, no more excuses: We did the grunt work for you, testing many a cover and indulging in maybe one too many afternoon naps (hey, work is work) so you can sleep happy.
It’s time to be that person who can’t help themselves from telling everyone they know how great their duvet cover is. Yep, that's future you, dear reader. Now, if only the best duvet cover could make the bags under your eyes vanish, too.

What to Consider
Buying a duvet cover comes down to personal preference. Do you prefer linen, cotton, or eucalyptus? Are you all about white or like to make a fashion statement with a bold color or pattern? How about a neutral hue? At the end of the day, go with whichever fabric you find the comfiest (admittedly, we’re partial to the luxurious feel of linen) and also look for duvet covers that are machine-washable to make your life easy.
Duvet covers typically come with button or zip closures. Again, some prefer one over the other, and we think both are great as long as the quality is there, i.e. the buttons don’t pop off easily and the zippers aren’t the cheap, snaggy ones that misalign or even break off after a few uses.
When buying a duvet cover, you also want to make sure there’s some kind of interior tie system in place. Having your duvet bunch up in one area and shift around while you sleep is no fun. Almost as little fun as still sleeping with a cover that's about one-and-a-half times too big for its current insert. 'Tis time, friends.
