With its smooth, crisp texture, medium weight, and crazy soft hand feel, the Parachute Brushed Cotton Sheet Set easily nabbed the "best overall" spot on our list. And not only are they ultra comfortable to sleep on, but these sheets proved highly durable and easy to use in our lab tests—so you’re pretty much guaranteed to be able to use them for many years.

If you’re looking for the Goldilocks of sheet weights, rest assured that these are just right, and are neither too light nor too heavy. Though more substantial-feeling than some cotton sheets, they’re also breathable.

In the lab, we performed a water droplet test, and the liquid dispersed quickly to indicate good moisture management. If you run hot at night or are looking for ideal year-round sheets, you’d do well with these.

After going through the wash, the texture of these Parachute sheets was nearly the same as the unwashed fabric. The washed fabric was only slightly softer—an impressive feat. No shrinking occurred after the sheets had been washed. We were also very happy with how easy it was to get the fitted sheet on the mattress, as well as how securely it stayed in place, even after a lot of tossing and turning.

Perhaps most impressive, though, were the results from our abrasion test. After rubbing the fabric with sandpaper, no pilling or thinning appeared, and no loose threads came off whatsoever. 

It’s hard to find flaws with these sheets. We observed a few minor loose threads after opening the package, but nothing significant. We also noted very slight color transfer after performing a wet color transfer test. And again, this was pretty minor. 

The biggest mark against them is that they don’t seem to be as stain-resistant as some other products on this list—though a coffee stain completely came out in the wash, we noticed some light foundation and oil stains remaining post-wash. So while they’re very durable, you’ll want to be careful of spills.

We also believe the Parachute Brushed Cotton Sheet Set to be a very good value. Though certainly more expensive than some cotton sheets, the quality and fit is exceptional, especially given the relatively lower price. If you’re looking to upgrade your sheeting but don’t want to spend many hundreds of dollars, you can’t go wrong with this classic set.

How It Performed After Three Months

We used these sheets at home for three months and didn't notice any changes in terms of quality. We stained them once and were able to easily remove the stain. Plus, they also seemed to get softer over time, which we appreciated.

The sheets seemed to wash well and we didn't notice any shrinkage. However, we found ourselves having to adjust the sheets on our mattress often as the elastic tended to come up.

Boll & Branch is known for excellent craftsmanship and high-quality materials, and the brand’s Reserve Sheet Set more than lives up to this reputation. While cotton sheets may sound basic, know that these are anything but: They’re made of long-staple 100% organic cotton, resulting in a sheet that feels dense but still breathable, silky and soft to the touch. These sheets also boast the most certifications of any on our list, being Fair Trade-, GOTS-, and OEKO-TEX Certified.

Given that the sheet set is an investment, you’d expect these sheets to be nice. But we were blown away by Boll & Branch’s unbelievable workmanship. Every piece in the set we inspected was flawless, with no loose threads, snags, or dye changes in the fabric and top-quality stitching. Especially impressive were the beautifully seamed corners and 7-inch hemline (a feature Woodson notes as particularly nice to have).

The fabric is heavier than some other cotton sheets, but it’s heavier in a way that feels high-end, not overly hot. In lab testing, we found these sheets cool to the touch and wonderfully breathable. 

The texture holds up impressively well, too: Even after being washed three times, the fabric retained the same slight sheen that we observed in the unwashed sheet. And in an abrasion test conducted in the lab with sandpaper, no residue came off the sheet, indicating that they’re particularly durable.

There’s a deep 17-inch pocket on the fitted sheet, which means it will accommodate even the densest mattresses. On the standard one we used in lab tests, the fitted sheet was slightly loose, but the corners still fit snugly and the strong elastic kept everything in place.

We have few criticisms for these near-perfect luxury sheets, but some shoppers may be disappointed to learn that there’s no twin size available in this particular Boll & Branch style. They also aren’t the most stain-resistant sheets on this list, so you’ll want to be mindful of spills, especially on the lighter colors: While an oil stain did come out in the wash in testing, a stain from coffee was somewhat visible. 

How It Performed After Six Months

After six months of at-home testing, we felt that these sheets were still cozy and didn't notice any changes in quality. They still fit our mattress as well as when we first received them, and we appreciated that they were easy to clean.

We did notice that these sheets tended to get warm at times, especially when shared with another person. While we didn't wake up overheated, it's important to keep in mind both your sleep environment and if you're a warm sleeper when considering these sheets.

Overall, we were impressed by the price of the Chateau Home Collection Egyptian Cotton Sheets. This queen-sized set includes a flat sheet, a fitted sheet, and two pillowcases, and is significantly less expensive than other similar options, making it the most affordable set on our list.

Despite the low price, the quality of these Chateau Home sheets is clearly high quality. We found no loose strings or imperfections when inspecting the sheets, and we also immediately appreciated the texture: The fabric has a heavier weight and smooth, silky feel that feels more expensive than it is. There are a number of luxurious-looking details, such as an embossed tonal stripe.

We also loved how nice these sheets felt to lay under; the weight of the flat sheet feels substantial enough to keep you warm on a cooler night, but the material is still highly breathable.

After going through the wash, the silky texture of these sheets softened a little but still felt very smooth. The fabric successfully repelled stains, including one from grease, with no discoloration left behind. And though the sheets did shrink a little bit after being washed, the fitted sheet still fit comfortably on the bed.

There are few downsides to these sheets, especially given the relatively affordable price. But we did notice some shrinking after the set went through the wash, and the wash-and-dry cycle also visibly altered the texture. The sheets had previously felt very silky, but the post-wash texture was more soft and smooth (though still pleasant to the touch). If you’re looking for a long-lasting silky feel, this may not be the best option for you.

How It Performed After Six Months

While testing these sheets at home, we found that we were using them more than any other sets we had. They're soft, smooth, and comfortable, and we liked that they were quite cooling as well. We didn't notice any issues with them post-wash, especially in terms of the color and softness.

Silky and very smooth, the Boll & Branch Signature Hemmed Sheet Set is a classic example of sateen sheets done right. Our first impression of these sheets was that they look and feel exactly as sateen sheets are supposed to—their appearance is clearly high-end, the color options stylish and soothing, and the texture soft to the touch with a pleasantly heavy weight.

As with all Boll & Branch sheets, the quality here is exceptional: The stitching is remarkably even, the seams lay perfectly flat, and there’s a long 7-inch hemline. And of course, there were no loose threads, discoloration, or uneven dye in sight. Not only are these sheets incredibly luxurious to sleep in yourself, but you’d be proud to display them in a guest bedroom, too.

Good looks aside, these Boll & Branch sheets also delivered an impressive performance in our testing lab. Very little wrinkling occurred after they had been washed, and the fitted sheet easily slid on the mattress with no issue. At 17 inches, the pocket size is deep enough to accommodate even thicker mattresses.

All stains came out after going through the wash, and we found the fabric to be slightly softer but still smooth and luxurious-feeling. And though the weight of these sheets is substantial, they still feel perfectly breathable—we found them to be appropriate for hot sleepers without causing overheating.

Though they’re expensive, we thought the Boll & Branch sheets deliver a true luxury sleep experience. The excellent craftsmanship and performance of these sheets more than justify the steep price in our opinion. 

How It Performed After Six Months

These sheets became a part of our rotation and we were always excited to come back to them. After six months, the set still looked brand new and we didn't notice any issues in terms of discoloration or loose threads. Although we tested these in a warm climate, we never woke up overheated when using these.

With percale sheets, you expect a crisp, classic texture with a fabric that’s lightweight but still hardy. The Pom Pom at Home Cotton Percale Sheets deliver all these attributes and more.

As soon as we took these percale sheets out of the box, we were wowed by the smooth, crisp cotton (it’s 100% long-staple cotton, which Woodson calls “a key element for luxury sheeting”). The sheets have a medium weight but still feel airy, like they’d let in a breeze on a hot day. After going through the wash, the texture felt ever so slightly less soft but still pleasant to the touch.

In test after test in our Des Moines lab, these sheets impressed: A water droplet test indicated very good moisture management; an abrasion test with sandpaper didn’t produce a single flaw; and most stains completely came out in the wash. 

Post-wash, the fabric looked perfect, too, with no uneven threads, snags, loose threads, or flaws in the dye. The fitted sheet was also easy to get on a mattress and we appreciated how securely it stayed in place. 

While certainly soft—and perhaps even softer than comparable percale sheets—this fabric is slightly crisper than others on our list and wouldn’t be the best choice for those craving a supersoft, relaxed texture. The only other downside we noted was that the fabric experienced some shrinkage after going through the wash, though the fitted sheet was still easy to get on the mattress and seemed to fit perfectly.

How It Performed After Three Months

We used these sheets on a weekly basis and we appreciated that over time, they softened quite a bit while still remaining crisp. Though we would have preferred that they softened quicker than they did, we felt that it was worth the wait. They're also cooling, as expected with percale, so we thought they'd be a great option to use during the summer.

Linen has a relaxed look and feel—but don’t let that trick you into thinking it’s not luxurious. Made of 100% European flax linen that’s OEKO-TEX certified, Parachute’s Linen Sheet Set is gloriously soft and breathable. 

From just one look, you can tell that these sheets are high end: There are a number of quality details throughout, and the color options, which include a range of classic neutrals along with understated shades like moss, a deep blue, and haze, a soft lavender, have a luxurious feel. 

Even some of the best luxury sheets can feel very different after going through the wash, but these Parachute sheets were happily unchanged post-wash. The texture was only slightly softer but not visibly worn, and the weight remained the same. 

There were a few loose threads when we first opened the package, but no new imperfections appeared after the sheets were washed and dried. These sheets also held up well in most tests performed in our lab—they completely repelled stains, didn’t experience any post-wash shrinkage, and had above-average moisture management.

We had few complaints about these sheets, but we did find the fitted sheet a little tight (it fits on every corner of the mattress, but requires a bit of work to get the corners on). After the fitted sheet was securely on the bed, though, it didn’t shift around as we laid on it and remained nicely draped with movement. 

In an abrasion test performed in our testing lab, some small holes appeared after the fabric had been sanded. This suggests that these sheets may not be the best choice for anyone with pets, as claws may easily snag the fabric.

How It Performed After Three Months

Linen sheets typically have a light and airy texture, and we were happy to report that the texture on these sheets didn't change after three months. We tried the light gray color and noted that they look just how they did when we first started using them as well. They do get a bit wrinkled after being washed, but that's to be expected with linen sheets so we didn't think it was a dealbreaker.

As with silk, bamboo sheets are a great choice for anyone who loves a smooth, lustrous, cool-to-the-touch texture. And of all the bamboo sheets on the market, we’ve found the Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheets to be the most splurge-worthy. 

From our first inspection, we were impressed by the obvious quality of these sheets. There were no loose threads or flaws, and we particularly loved the embroidered logo — though a small detail, it gives the sheets a high-end look. The texture is lovely, too: silky but not slippery and beautifully even and smooth. After laying on these sheets for some time, we were impressed by how cool they felt against the skin.  

Though there were initially a few wrinkles throughout, they all seemed like they’d be fairly easy to smooth after drying. It’s worth noting that wrinkles are likely a little more visible on this type of fabric because it’s slightly shiny, which draws the light. And indeed, after going through the wash, the texture felt super soft and no wrinkles remained, even on the pillowcase, which we thought was an impressive result. 

Washing didn’t produce any loose threads, either, though it did seem to make the fitted sheet tighter. We could still get it on the mattress, but it definitely felt more snug without much extra room.

How It Performed After Six Months

We used these sheets frequently and if there's one thing we loved about them, it's the very soft feel. Although they're more expensive than some other sets, we felt that the texture made them a worthy investment. We did notice a few loose threads here and there, but given that we washed them twice a week and used them almost every night for six months straight, we felt that it was reasonable.

If you love silk sheets, it’s likely because you appreciate how incredible they feel. And while it’s common to find silky sheets made from materials like polyester, rest assured that the Colorado Home Co Mulberry Silk Bed Sheets Set is the real deal: The fabric on these sheets is 100% mulberry silk—a variety that’s particularly sought-after—and both GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified.

These sheets are suitably sumptuous, smooth but not slick, with a pleasant weight and texture. We were impressed by their near-perfect construction, which had no snags, loose threads, visible color transfer, or imperfections in the dye.

After going through the wash, they experienced only the slightest color fading but remained smooth, soft, and beautifully cool to the touch. What’s more, they held up well to abrasion tests, indicating they’d be safe for pet owners.

Real silk sheets are expensive and these are no exception. If you crave the cool and smooth handfeel that silk sheets deliver, they’ll be well worth the splurge. But keep in mind that they need to be handled with care: Though the fabric is machine-washable, the manufacturer recommends hand-washing for best results.

While the material appears to be reasonably durable, it didn’t fare quite as well in stain tests conducted in our lab: Marks from foundation and oil stubbornly remained after going through the wash.

How It Performed After Six Months

After six months of using these sheets, we reported that they still feel brand new. We liked that they still fit our mattress the same way as when we first started using them and they also didn't retain any odor.

It's worth noting that we did get quite warm using these over the summer, but they were very cozy during the winter months. Overall, we noticed that our sleep quality improved and we felt that it was due in part to these sheets.

A type of linen, hemp is known for being ultra breathable and the Delilah Home Hemp Queen Sheet Set doesn’t disappoint. Made from lightweight 100% organic hemp in Portugal that’s GOTs-certified, the fabric feels luxurious and the construction is excellent.

These sheets impressed us with their breathability—they’d be perfect for hot sleepers or sticky summer nights. Though slightly rougher than 100% cotton sheets, we found this set to be a little softer than comparable hemp and linen products, and the fabric softened up even further after going through the wash. 

While there were a few scattered loose threads, we didn’t notice any snags or imperfections in the dye. Overall, the sheets looked high-end and extremely well-made—which you’d expect, given the cost. 

We believe that these sheets would continue to soften up with more washes, and they appeared durable, too. After being washed, stains on the fabric came out completely, with no remnants left behind.

It’s worth noting that while these sheets softened significantly after going through the wash, they also became much more wrinkled, which is to be expected with this material. But the appearance of the wrinkles combined with a deeper pocket on the fitted sheet created the appearance of a loose and unstructured fit on the bed. After moving around on the mattress, however, we were pleased to find that the corners held tight and we didn’t notice excess fabric.
