I'm going to be honest: My fave part of going on vacation isn't the meals or the activities—it's knowing I'm going to end the day swaddled in a crisp, freshly-made bed that I could bounce a quarter off. Ofc, a hotel bed is only as luxurious as its linens (and no, a chocolate on the pillow isn't going to make up for scratchy, paper-thin sheets). The best hotel sheets are usually made with high-thread-count, long-staple cotton that's durable, breathable, and—most importantly—soft AF, and if you're looking to bring the hotel experience home, I've gotchu covered.

While premium hotel sheets from brands like Sferra and Frette usually cost upwards of $500 (I mean, they're premium for a reason!!), there are still plenty of hotel-quality sheets under that price point, including some truly luxurious Egyptian cotton and Pima cotton options. And whether you prefer the crisp, cool feel of percale sheets or the silky softness of sateen, I've got lots of great options for you to peruse.

These luxe sateen sheets have a medium weight and oh-so-slight sheen, and the subtle embroidery on the hem is just the cherry on top. Plus, you can get 'em in white, ivory, or gray.

  • Material: Egyptian cotton
  • Weave: Sateen
  • Thread count: 500
  • Depth: 16"
  • Sizes: Queen, king, Cal king

Frette sheets are used worldwide in upscale hotels, and you can bring 'em to your bed at a (somewhat) reasonable price thanks to the H by Frette line. This crisp set features a simple percale weave that gets softer with every wash, and they sleep incredibly cool, too, thanks to that lower thread count. Oh, and the packaging? 10/10.

How to choose the best hotel sheets

linebreak

Listen, hotel-quality sheets can be pretty expensive, so if you wanna buy a set that'll last you years without losing its quality, keep these things in mind:

Check the thread count

FYI, a higher thread count doesn't necessarily = better. Instead, a higher thread count means that the fabric is thicker and more tightly woven, which is why sheets with a sateen weave usually have a higher thread count than those with a percale weave. Generally speaking, the optimal thread count is between 200 and 300 for percale sheets and between 300 and 600 for sateen sheets—though it you like a denser sheet, you'll find sheets on this list with thread counts between 600 and 800. Speaking of percale versus sateen...

Choose the right weave

Sateen or percale—which is better? It all comes down to personal preference, but here's what you should know. Cotton sheets with a sateen weave have a subtle sheen to them, and the fabric tends to drape well and be wrinkle-free even without ironing. This weave tends to be a bit heavier than percale, so while sateen sheets may feel cozier and silkier, they're more likely to retain heat. Percale sheets, on the other hand, are crisp, cool, and breathable with a matte finish, with the biggest downside being that they're more prone to wrinkling.

Look at the certifications

Here's the thing: Lots of sheets claim to be made with Egyptian cotton...and very few are. If you wanna know whether the sheets you're buying were *actually* made with extra-long-staple fibers from the Nile River Valley, then make sure you look for the gold Cotton Egypt Association (CEA) seal to verify it. It's also a good idea to make sure any sheets you buy are OEKO-TEX Certified (which means it's guaranteed safe from over 350 harmful substances).
