Today, Hodo is one of the most original and sought after plant-based protein brands in the US. But Founder & CEO Minh Tsai, once a refugee from Vietnam, never expected he’d create such a company. He simply missed the delicious, artisan foods from his childhood and found them to be elusive in the US. After apprenticing with tofu masters, Minh introduced incomparable tofu and yuba at San Francisco Bay Area farmers markets, made with organic American grown soybeans.
With dedication to the best ingredients, and by building on traditional methods with innovative techniques and formats, Hodo products quickly became must-have staples for renowned chefs and home cooks who love to eat well. Hodo is found in ingredient-driven restaurants from Benu and State Bird Provisions to Chipotle and sweetgreen to Benu and Daniel, wellness-focused meal kits such as Sunbasket and Hungryroot, at forward-thinking corporate campus restaurants including Google, Linkedin and Facebook, and in thousands of retail stores nationwide from Whole Foods Markets to Target.
The company repertoire includes award-winning, protein-rich meat-alternatives and egg-alternatives made with organic, whole ingredients. Hodo is recognized for sustainable food systems leadership, and the passion and knowledge that make Hodo products unlike anything else on the market. Today, Minh stands committed to making the most delicious, nutrient-dense, clean-ingredient plant-based proteins.
Before entering the food business, Minh worked in investment banking, software and management consulting. He holds a Bachelors & Masters from Columbia University.
