Passionate about contributing to the influence of fashion in the realm of social justice, Julie Colombino-Billingham spearheaded a business that makes free-thinking fashion for a fairer world. Located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, she first designed sandals from tires, then she made Haiti their muse, ensuring everything crafted by Deux Mains would have fairness stitched in.
Under Colombino-Billingham’s leadership, the past 12 years has been a dramatic evolution rooted in the beauty and extremities of Haiti. Just a few of the partnerships she initiated to change the state of fashion and manufacturing in the developing world have include: the United Nations, Kenneth Cole, Eileen Fisher, and USAID.
Julie is the recipient of the Southern Living Beauty Awards for her work as a female entrepreneur. She was a finalist in the Digicel Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Haiti. She is the 2016 Martin Bell Scholar, and recently received her MBA from Rollins Crummer Graduate School of Business.
Julie's book, From Death to Dollars, will be available in 2022. It is based on her real-life encounters post-earthquake and documents the growth of the Deux Mains from Haiti's vibrant history, culture and creative flair to create a new future for fashion.
