Founding Story
Zack, a PhD microbiologist, founded ZBiotics because of the potential genetically engineered probiotics have to improve our daily lives.
By making small changes to a probiotic bacteria’s genetic code, Zack could edit it to do something new and to support our bodies in a specific way.
The possible applications were endless, but Zack decided to start by addressing an age-old problem that most of us have encountered before: that rough morning after a night of drinking.
The science was clear that the next-day effects of drinking are in large part due to an alcohol byproduct called acetaldehyde. As a scientist, he was surprised there weren’t any solutions out there to directly address this problem effectively. So, he invented one: the first-ever genetically engineered probiotic designed to break down a toxic byproduct of alcohol.
But dealing with the aftermath of drinking was only the beginning. ZBiotics is creating a whole new category of products built with engineered probiotics that help our bodies deal with whatever daily life throws our way.
