Founded in 2020 by sport and pelvic physiotherapist, Kate Roddy, The Kegel Release Curve is redefining pelvic floor self care and putting pelvic floor health right in your hands. The KR Curve is a premium pelvic floor wand designed to make perineal massage easier for pregnant women and any woman preventatively caring for their pelvic floor muscles. It is casted out of surgical-grade stainless steel, making it the "Tiffany's" of pelvic floor wands on the market. The Kegel Release Curve believes in the power of vaginal self-care, and knows that their pelvic floor KR Curve makes it easier.
The Kegel Release Curve was developed by Kate Roddy, a Toronto-based sport and pelvic physiotherapist who, like many moms-to-be, took a hard pass on perineal massage to prep her vaginal muscles for giving birth. She knew the benefits, but she just couldn’t reach to do it. Then her baby arrived and her postnatal vagina immediately wished her prenatal vagina had prepared better for such a monumental event.
The truth is this, Kate is a recovering vagina herself and intimately knows the struggles women face. With 15 years of physiotherapy experience, Kate notices many patients walk through the door with muscular tension caused by stress and anxiety. Too many women avoid everyday activities for fear of embarrassment or pain. Women want to run, jump, sneeze, cough and laugh without peeing a little (or a lot). They want to have sex or insert a tampon without vaginal pain. Pregnant women want to avoid tearing and the need for an episiotomy during childbirth. And women would really love to avoid feeling like they have to go to the bathroom all the time.
This is why Kate created The Kegel Release Curve, with five core beliefs grounded in helping women take control of their pelvic floor health including believing that: preventative care will revolutionize pelvic health, reducing incontinence will give women confidence, easing pelvic pain will help women rediscover pleasure in sex, pregnant women should have the tools to do perineal massage themselves and most importantly the power of vaginal self-care.
CEO & Founder
Kate is a practicing physiotherapist in Toronto, owns her own sport and pelvic physiotherapy practice, Fixt Physio + Chiro, and is the CEO of The Kegel Release Curve. With over 15 years of experience, her extensive knowledge, training and first hand experience uniquely suits her to understand the frustration and pain of pelvic floor dysfunction and trying to return to athletic endeavors. She runs the entire company as a one-woman show but has a vision of developing more products and systems for women looking for better pelvic healthcare. Kate has indigenous Canadian heritage and sees a great need for better pelvic education for indigenous remote communities. In time, she would like to develop education and outreach programs to Northern Canadian areas as a philanthropic arm of her company. She has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Physiotherapy Studies from the University of Queensland.
