Gathering exquisite goods from artisans around the world, St Elise BAZAAR brings you the best handmade pieces from afar. Each piece is deeply rooted in the indigenous and historic culture that produced it. These are artisans who have mastered skills passed down to them over generations. All handmade objects are inherently one-of-a-kind, but many of these pieces are fundamentally unique, never to be reproduced.
The mission of St Elise BAZAAR is three fold: to expand the market for artisans from around the world, to share the founders' respect for the culture of these artisans, and to support them in maintaining sustainable production methods. A direct result is that women artisans, in particular, are empowered to become financially independent, support their families, educate their children, and take on leading roles in their communities.
Bethany Whaley and Sandy Peinado met in 2018 through a mutual friend. Bethany has a background in design and retail. Sandy was educated as a Family Physician, but followed a second career path as an educator and consultant to international artisans. They quickly discovered a kindred spirit in each other: someone who appreciates the soul and power of handmade items. They delight in telling the story to customers of each of the items they find and are committed to paying a fair price for the work of skilled artisans.
