Each pair of SOLS is ethically curated, designed and woven by artisans from Mexican pueblitos using weaving techniques and patterns that have been handed down for generations. They source all natural materials such as genuine leather, natural rubber and a natural water-based adhesive to create sandals that are comfortable, durable, stylish, and truly one of a kind.
Each shoe starts with the story of the hands that made them and that story lives on through those who wear them. Every pair of SOLS purchased directly helps support the Mexican artisans who handcrafted them.
When Cici and Liz returned home to Mexico a few years ago and saw the beautiful shoes artisans were creating by hand, they knew they wanted to support their art and share it with the world. The issue they saw the artisans facing was having to rely on the ever-changing local markets and unpredictable tourism to earn a living wage and support their families.
This is when SOLS was born. Growing up with Mexican artisan-made household items, Liz and Cici shared a love for the craftsmanship and the rich history behind leather shoemaking in Mexico. SOLS was a way to share that rich history of Mexican leather shoemaking with the world, while also being able to provide a steady income for local artisans in Mexico helping them provide for their own families.
Today, Cici and Liz keep in close contact with the 42 talented artisans SOLS partners with. They work in collaboration with their artisans to create new styles, colors and designs, and to source the best materials to work with.
