Cincinnati, OH--Instead of promoting sales and special deals for traditional “Black Friday” shopping, Plaine Products, a plastic-free, vegan hair and skincare brand, is shifting the focus to giving back to others for the third year in a row. Plaine Products will be donating a portion of sales on November 23-29, 2001 to the Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub, New Orleans-based Glass Half Full, and the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center of Orange County, California, all non-profit organizations selected because of their significance to Plaine Products employees.
“We are frequently calling on our customers and followers to be more conscientious in their purchasing habits,” said co-founder and CEO Lindsey McCoy. “We want to change the focus of the Black Friday shopping frenzy to giving back versus acquiring more,” she said.
This year, the company’s Give Back Friday initiative will support nonprofits in communities where their employees live, including:
- Cincinnati Recycling and Reuse Hub, an organization with a goal to help mitigate the effects of climate change by increasing recycling, reuse, and landfill diversion rates in the regional area.
- Glass Half Full, in New Orleans, Louisiana, a non-profit aimed at solving the glass recycling problem in the city. The city does not recycle glass, so the organization collects glass throughout the city and recycles it into sand and glass cullet for disaster relief and prevention, coastal restoration, eco-construction, new glass products, and more.
- Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center of Orange County, California, a non profit dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned native wildlife. Their mission is to educate the public about human impact on the environment and mitigate that impact through care and rehabilitation of native wildlife. Their facilities are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and they are on call 24/7 in the event of an oil spill, which recently occurred in Huntington Beach.
Plaine Products, a Certified B Corp with a mission to keep single use packaging out of landfills, sells their products in reusable aluminum containers, which customers send back once empty to be refilled. As a member of 1% For The Planet, the company donates at least one percent of annual sales to environmental non-profits, including 5 Gyres, Beyond Plastics, Lonely Whale, Plastic Pollution Coalition, and Upstream Solutions.
To participate in this giving campaign, customers can purchase through the website at plaineproducts.com on November 23-29, and will receive 20% off with the code HOLIDAY21.
