OURA is a mission-driven social enterprise that works to infuse high-tech solutions into everyday products like antimicrobial face masks, aprons, facial cleansing products, clothing and more. OURA combines technology and design to provide consumers with antimicrobial apparel and home goods that are scientifically backed and extensively verified. As a trailblazer in creating cleaner lifestyle products, OURA is committed to providing consumers with laboratory-tested products that are safe and effective. Plus, for every 1,000 products sold, OURA partners with Make-a-Wish to grant the wish of a childhood cancer patient.

Based in Los Angeles, California and founded in 2017, OURA’s sustainable, high-quality products combine advanced technology and detailed craftsmanship to reimagine items consumers use on a daily basis by making them safer and healthier. All of OURA’s technical fabrics are infused with safe and natural minerals that make them anti-bacterial, self-cleaning, hypoallergenic, UV protective and/or water-repellent, breathable and moisture-wicking.

Through a focus on innovative high-performance product solutions, as well as a commitment to creating change, building communities and honest manufacturing, OURA seeks to empower people to live healthier lives.

Founding Story

OURA began after CEO and co-founder Keane Veran was diagnosed with Leukemia at age 10. After spending most of his childhood in treatment wearing baseball hats to cover his balding head, he realized these rarely-washed accessories were a breeding ground for bacteria that can cause infection or worse – especially in vulnerable populations like cancer patients; and he sought to create a safer solution.

After Make-a-Wish granted his wish to meet President Obama in 2011, he realized he could help others by creating a social enterprise that would not only specialize in making self-cleaning healthy products, but also one that gives back in a meaningful way to help inspire hope in other childhood cancer patients. Thus, OURA was born in 2017.

Short for origami, OURA is inspired by the Japanese legend of folding 1,000 origami cranes to receive a wish. Today, for every 1,000 “OURAgami” hats sold, the brand grants a wish through our nonprofit partners.

Through the years, OURA has expanded its product offerings at, and applied its modern self-sterilizing technology to a variety of goods that consumers use daily. OURA is privately held and headquartered in Los Angeles, California.

Keane is the CEO and co-founder of OURA – a company that developed from an idea born of his own personal experience with cancer. Since his original diagnosis in 2008, he has found himself giving back to other patients and heavily involved in many childhood cancer organizations, including Make-A-Wish and Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times. As a wish recipient himself, Keane now spends his time volunteering with a variety of organizations and attributes his experiences with cancer and similar charitable organizations as direct influences for OURA’s mission of giving. While leading the growth and vision of the company since its launch, Keane has been studying Business Economics at the University of California, Riverside since 2016. He has been featured in various publications such as Healthline, Reader’s Digest and Realtor.
