About

Nebula Genomics, a rapidly growing and wholly owned subsidiary of ProPhase Labs, is a personal genomics company offering affordable, in-depth and actionable health and wellness information through Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS). While other genetics tests decode less than one percent of your DNA, Nebula Genomics decodes 100% of your DNA, providing comprehensive insights for your health and wellness that are as unique as your individual genetic composition. The company was co-founded by ‘Founding Father of Genomics’ George Church, Kamal Obbad, and Dennis Grishin.

Today, Nebula Genomics has reached consumers in 130 countries worldwide and offers 30x WGS starting at $249. Nebula Genomics also offers the Nebula Explore membership, which provides personalized reports, deep analysis, and ongoing access to the latest in genomic research.

Founding Story

One of the co-founders, Kamal, played a pivotal role in shaping the founding story of Nebula Genomics. As a Gates-Cambridge Scholar at the University of Cambridge and a graduate of Harvard University, Kamal conducted extensive research on neurological and embryological development under the guidance of the renowned 'Founding Father of Genomics,' Professor George Church, who is also a co-founder at Nebula Genomics and holds the positions of Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School and Director of PersonalGenomes.org.

After his time at Harvard, Kamal joined Google, where he led teams within the research and machine intelligence organization. It was during this period that Kamal closely witnessed the rapid advancements in Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) technology. He recognized a significant gap in the WGS consumer market and a lack of accessibility to comprehensive genomic data. Driven by his passion for democratizing sequencing research and making personal genomics data more mainstream and accessible to consumers, Kamal then co-founded Nebula Genomics. The company's vision was to provide affordable and in-depth health and wellness insights through WGS, decoding 100% of an individual's DNA, setting it apart from other genetic tests that only analyze a fraction of the genome.

Kamal's dedication and vision earned him recognition, including being named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Currently, he is pursuing his MD/PhD at Stanford University School of Medicine, further contributing to the field of genomics and personalized healthcare.

Under Kamal's leadership and expertise, alongside fellow co-founders George Church and Dennis Grishin, Nebula Genomics embarked on a journey to revolutionize personal genomics, empowering individuals with a deeper understanding of their unique genetic composition and its potential impact on their health and well-being.
