Love, Indus is reviving and revitalizing hyper-local, precious ingredients and practices from the Indian subcontinent, some lost, some forgotten and some that are yet to be discovered and harnessed outside their regional bastions.
Founder, Surbhee Grover was born in Kolkata in India’s East. She studied in Delhi in the North, and spent summers with her grandparents in Ajmer in the West. At the very dawn of her career, Surbhee found herself working for India’s largest hair care brand making sales calls in villages across the South. She lived and breathed the regions’ diversity over those formative years.
The next stage of her life brought her to New York where she completed her Masters from NYU Stern, and then joined Booz & Co, a global consulting firm where she led strategy and innovation initiatives for clients in the consumer space. Over the years, Surbhee worked with some of the leading luxury goods brands in Europe and North America.
With her base in New York – a city that heralds many trends – she noticed how several Indian concepts, such as yoga, and kitchen staples like turmeric and coconut oil, had found their way into the daily lives and lattes of the West. She then realized that skincare and wellness concepts from the Indian subcontinent that achieved some recognition globally, barely scratched the surface of all the regional riches she had grown up experiencing. Her passion to bring this to the Western world sparked the inspiration to start Love, Indus.
Surbhee has over 20 years of experience working in retail, consumer, and luxury companies across Asia, Europe, and the US. She started her career in personal care in India with industry leaders such as L’Oreal and Marico Industries before moving to New York to work with the global consulting firm Booz Allen, Hamilton - where she advised leading luxury and consumer companies on growth and innovation – all of which played a tremendous part in her entrepreneurial journey.
Being an avid traveler, explorer, and rainbow chaser, Surbhee enjoys capturing moments and crafting stories. Love, Indus helps celebrates Surbhee's two homes – India and New York. The brand evokes a journey fueled by nostalgia, culture, energy, and innovation that manifests itself in all that we do.
