Funky Junque (pronounced Funky ‘Junk’) is a family-owned apparel business, operating since 2001. Funky Junque has established itself as one of the leaders in the hat business, offering "the greatest selection of hats for all people, all reasons, all seasons". The company first found success with their winter beanies, particularly their popular 'pom' and baby beanies. In November 2013, Funky Junque launched its first products on the Amazon platform, marking the company's shift to an e-commerce focus.

Today, hats remain the company's top-performing product category, contributing significantly to Funky Junque's overall business. However, the company has also diversified its catalog to include other accessory items, such as scarves, gloves, bags, as well as complementary party supplies that align with some of their themed hat designs (e.g., bachelorette parties, sports)

Founding Story

Linda Wolff (now Dermer) was a top children's salesperson, representing top brands like Tractor Jeans, Church Girl, and Lucky Jeans. One of her oldest client asked if she represented any fashion jewelry/accessory lines. Linda had her "ah-ha" moment, thinking to herself that there weren't any brands she fit the market opportunity she envisioned, so she decide to start Funky Junque.

Linda's product vision for the company was to market quality, inexpensive products that were both fashionable and functional. What started with a handful of items has grown to over 3500 skus. Funky Junque is now a top brand on Amazon with over 650,00 product reviews with an average 4.6 stars and a 99% seller rating.

David Dermer began his career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and spent a decade in public accounting. David’s entrepreneurial nature led him to industries as varied as gumball machines, computer memory, incentive travel, and fashion jewelry which proceeded him establishing a presence as a leading Amazon brand and third-party seller.

David has co-owned the family business, Funky Junque, since 2001. Over the past 11 years, he has been a passionate advocate for leveraging e-commerce to drive the company's growth. David's deep understanding of Amazon's specialized programs and his proven track record of success have made him a valuable resource and thought leader. On multiple occasions, he has been asked to represent Amazon at unique events and provide highly valued feedback to Amazon internal teams. In recognition of his expertise, David was even invited to join Amazon leadership on stage during the Opening General Session of last year's Accelerate conference - a testament to the respect he has earned within the Amazon seller community.

In his personal life, David is happily married to his soulmate and business partner, Linda, and together they have four children and four grandchildren. In their free time, you can find this dynamic duo enjoying friendly competition on the Pickleball court.

Linda Dermer, founder of Funky Junque, built a distinguished career as a top children’s clothing and accessories sales representative before launching Funky Junque. During her time as a sales rep, she represented over 30 different apparel lines, including many well-known brands. Recognized as a leading Midwest rep in her field, Linda operated showrooms in New York, Atlanta, and Dallas, and managed a team of sales reps across the country. Her impressive client roster includes major retailers like Dillard's, Scheels, Nordstrom, and TJ Maxx.

She has exhibited at premier trade shows such as Magic and traveled overseas multiple times to China and South Korea for product development. Linda came up with many of Funky Junque’s most successful and creative items, working very closely with her daughter, Lauren Brzys.

Linda earned her degree in Business from the University of Miami in 1981, a foundation that fueled her entrepreneurial journey. In her personal life, she is happily married to her soulmate and business partner, David, and together they have four children and four grandchildren. She is recognized as one of the top female pickleball in the Chicago suburbs by friends and foes alike.
