Coley Home is a direct-to-consumer, custom upholstery brand that emphasizes high quality materials, artisan craftsmanship, and industry-disrupting quick lead times. The growing upholstery line features sofas, sectionals, beds, arm chairs, dining chairs, and more. Each piece is handcrafted in their own manufacturing facility in Claremont, North Carolina and ships within 6 weeks. The site also features a quick ship collection that ships in just 10 business days. Customers design their own custom piece with their choice of over 70 high quality fabrics sourced from some of the finest mills around the world.
In efforts to support the local community and minimize their carbon footprint, Coley Home sources a majority of their materials from neighbors and friends in the Claremont area. Materials and fabrics are sourced with longevity in mind, and pieces are built to last and be loved in the home for years to come. The furniture is sold primarily online, while a Charlotte, North Carolina flagship showroom is opening in early 2023. Coley Home sells direct-to-consumer and to the design trade.
The idea for Coley Home was born while Coley was furnishing her small New York apartment—all the custom upholstered furniture she liked had long lead times, but ready-to-order furniture lacked the personalization and quality she wanted. Plus, moving and assembling furniture into a small apartment was tedious and complicated. Coley realized there was a gap in the market when it came to accessible high-end furniture, and she decided to bring her knowledge of textiles and furniture design to the direct-to-consumer, e-commerce world.
Riding the subway to her job as a designer at a textile company, Coley was inundated with ads for “mattress-in-a-box” concepts. The idea struck her: she could apply the same compressed, memory foam logic to a headboard with endless customization options and designer details.
Coley returned to her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina to start developing the concept of “The Crown Bed,” which uses a patent-pending technology that makes its custom foam headboards easy to ship in a box. She launched the online company in October of 2019.
Coley Collett Hull founded Coley Home in 2019, which specializes in custom, direct-to-consumer furniture with quick shipping and easy assembly.
Coley fell in love with furniture at a young age, watching her mom and grandparents run a well-known furniture company based in Conover, North Carolina. Coley went on to follow in her family's footsteps and graduated from the N.C. State School of Textiles. After graduation, Coley brought her professional career to New York, developing fabric lines for Fiama Textiles. Trent Wright has over 30 years of expertise in the furniture industry and leads our talented manufacturing team. Trent studied Industrial Engineering and Lean Operations in college, and then went on to serve in the US Navy aboard a nuclear-powered submarine during Desert Storm.
When he returned home, he was seeking a challenge. Doors to the furniture industry opened when Lee Industries, a well-established upholstery company based in Conover, NC, decided to build a new 125,000 square foot plant. Trent was hired to lay out plant, perform work flow analysis, and time studies. Trent never dreamed of being in furniture, but fell in love with the industry and the people. He went on to be Director of Operations for Lee Industries for 20 years, where he led engineering, scheduling, purchasing, logistics, lean initiatives, and environmental sustainability efforts.
After his tenor at Lee Industries, trent served as President and CEO of Southern Furniture, then President of the Upholstery Division for Progressive Furniture.
