About

With more and more people becoming increasingly aware that we must reduce our overconsumption of animal-based food out of concerns for our health, the planet and animal welfare, the pet food industry remains left out of this important conversation. Yet, our dogs, which are mostly fed an over-processed diet consisting of the lowest quality ingredients, are increasingly suffering from the same preventable diseases we see in humans. What is more, if the U.S. pet food industry was ranked as a country for its meat consumption, it would rank number 5. Dogs are omnivores, and thrive on a plant-rich diet of high quality, fresh food.

As the pet food industry trends in lockstep after the human-food industry, pet consumers are demanding more sustainable, transparent, animal-friendly food for their companion animals. Bramble is the first fresh pet food to tackle all of these concerns.

Bramble is the first and only 100% plant-based fresh dog food that looks, feels and tastes like the meat dogs crave. Formulated by board-certified veterinary nutritionists and expert animal nutritionists, Bramble is both high in protein and packed with superfoods. Bramble’s mission is to give dogs the healthiest food possible, with an emphasis on drool-worthy recipes, without sacrificing the planet or animals along the way.

Founding Story

After losing her dog, Harry, to cancer, Bramble founder and CEO, Amanda Rolat, realized that dogs are getting sick from the highly processed food they are fed, marketed in a way to mask horribly inferior ingredients. This felt familiar, as it parallels the way in which people are getting sick from the food they eat.

A lawyer with more than a decade of experience, Amanda put herself to work researching the pet food landscape. When Amanda’s search for high quality, sustainable, and ethical options for her two remaining rescue dogs left her dissatisfied, she was compelled to hire a board-certified veterinary nutritionist to develop something she could trust. This early creation in her kitchen, along with Amanda's steadfast dedication to ensuring that her beloved dogs were deliciously nourished and thriving, ultimately fueled the development of her own direct-to-consumer brand.

In 2020, Bramble was 1 of the 8 companies, out of more than 450 applications, accepted into the esteemed Food-X accelerator. In July 2021, the company launched online sales in the northeast.

Amanda Rolat is the Founder and CEO of Bramble, the first and only pet food company that gives dogs a fresh, whole food plant-based diet developed by board-certified veterinary nutritionists, and also educates pet parents on the benefits of feeding their dogs to better health.

After losing her dog, Harry, to cancer, and learning about the dangers and horrors of even the most premium commercial pet food, Amanda realized that dogs are getting sick from the highly processed food they are fed, marketed in a way to mask inferior ingredients. This felt familiar, as it parallels the way in which people are getting sick from the food they eat.

When Amanda’s search for high quality, sustainable, and ethical options for her two rescue dogs left her dissatisfied, she was compelled to hire a board-certified veterinary nutritionist to develop something she could trust. This early creation in her kitchen ultimately fueled the development of her own direct-to-consumer brand. Dogs can thrive on plant-based protein sources for the same reasons humans do: they offer a clean, high quality, reliable source of protein without the hormones, contaminants, and bad fats of factory-farmed meat.

In 2020, Bramble was 1 of the 8 companies, out of more than 450 applications, accepted into the esteemed Food-X accelerator. In July 2021, the company launched its online sales in the northeast.

Prior to starting Bramble, Amanda practiced law in New York City for a decade, specializing in wrongful convictions. Though this appears at first glance as a stark contrast, Amanda views both her prior and current positions to both involve justice. Her passion for working to correct criminal injustice is tantamount to her drive to change the way we view and treat farm animals and ultimately drew her into the pet care space.

Amanda currently resides in New York City with her two rescue dogs Bryn and McGruff.
