Aktiv emerged organically while Leslie and Nate lived in Oslo, Norway during 2016-17. They moved to Norway with their children to pivot from their careers as trial lawyers by attending the University of Oslo. While living in Oslo, they discovered Scandinavian clothing brands that they had not heard of before. They also discovered the Norwegian unofficial motto which is, "there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing." The quality and construction along with the use of natural fibers like high quality merino wool left an impression on both of them and they began to think about bringing it to the United States.

Aktiv was born in 2018 with the launch of aktivstyle.com. It was expanded during 2020 with the opening of the Aktiv flagship store at Stanley Marketplace in the Denver metro area. Aktiv is proud to bring 42 hard to find Nordic brands to the American market and be the sole source for 22 of the companies in North America.
