There are mornings when a beauty magic wand would work wonders. With just a bibbidi-bobbidi-boo, your skin-care and complexion routine would be complete. Although no such wand exists, the Daybird Tinted Skincare comes in close. The product combines your serums, SPF, and foundation into one quick yet comprehensive step.

Daybird Tinted Skincare ($40) is focused on soothing and protecting your skin. The formula includes 2 percent niacinamide and 0.5 percent bisabolol, two antioxidant-rich ingredients. Niacinamide, also known as vitamin B3, is beloved by derms for its ability to soothe and hydrate skin, provide protection against environmental stressors, and regulate sebum production (leading to less-oily skin over time). Bisabolol is a chamomile extract and it reduces inflammation. Both actives also work to gently even out discoloration.

On the UV defense, the product contains zinc oxide to provide SPF 50 protection against UVA and UVB rays as well as blue light. As a mineral sun blocker, zinc is able to reflect up to 50 percent of visible light (including blue light), aka the type of light that exacerbates hyperpigmentation. Iron oxides in the formula help aid in blue light protection while also providing a bit of a natural tint.

The serum comes in four super-sheer shades, which are so sheer that you don't have to worry about finding your perfect match—each color is "flexible," meaning that it can work for a few different skin tones. While the tint helps to camouflage the white cast that zinc and iron oxide typically leave behind, know that it doesn't provide much coverage—it won't hide dark spots or scarring. Instead, it gives your skin a light veil that has more of a "blurring" effect than a "covering" one.

What it's like using Daybird Tinted Skincare

To put this product to the test, I used it all by itself. I washed my face, pat it dry and let the rest of the moisture air dry (because sunscreen should go onto dry skin). Then I put on Daybird. My biggest concern was that it wouldn't be hydrating enough for my super-dry skin–especially since mineral sunscreens tend to be drying. But my skin felt great—soft and hydrated. I'm shade three, and I did notice a bit of that white haze when I put it on but it went away as I worked the product into my skin.

To keep it simple but finish off the look (pictured above), I popped on my Kosas Air Brow Tinted Clean Volumizing Eyebrow Gel ($24), Róen Beauty Cheeky Cream Blush ($36) in the shade natural rose, and the Ilia Fullest Volumizing Mascara ($28). Finishing my full face took two minutes flat, making it perfect for a simple everyday routine, or something to grab in a pinch when you don't have the time (or energy) to go full out.
