Though bidet seats have been around for more than 40 years and they're ubiquitous in places like Japan, the bum-cleaning fixtures are just catching on in the U.S. "Bidets got a big bump during the pandemic, when everyone was scrambling for toilet paper," says Dan DiClerico, director of the Good Housekeeping Institute’s Home Improvement & Outdoor Lab. "Regardless of why people made the switch, most tell us they'll never go back to being a toilet paper-only household."
