Fishers Finery Silk Pillowcase Review: Luxuriously Soft And Affordable

After researching and testing products for my larger review of the best silk pillowcases, I chose the Fishers Finery 25 Momme 100% Pure Mulberry Silk Pillowcase as the top value pick due to the quality of its fabric and luxurious feel. Read on to learn more about this winning pick.

Many people prefer sleeping on a silk pillowcase because the material is less likely to contribute to hair breakage, frizziness, fine lines or dryness. Its soft, smooth surface means less friction, so you can wake up to more manageable skin and hair. Despite these benefits, you may have avoided silk because of its high price point or fear that silk bedding is too high maintenance.

In my search for the best silk pillowcases, I was pleasantly surprised by Fishers Finery 25 Momme 100% Pure Mulberry Silk Pillowcase. Its 25 momme (the highest out of all the winners I tested) feels luxuriously thick and smooth to the touch. Plus, its fair price point belies its high quality. Ahead, learn why I found it to have the best value compared to all the other options that I tested.

Quality And Durability

One of the most important factors to consider when evaluating a pillowcase is durability; you’ll want to wash it regularly to keep it clean, but doing so will wear any fabric down over time. This is where material and momme count come in. The Fishers Finery pillowcase is crafted from 100% mulberry silk and has the highest momme out of all the winning pillowcases I tested—and it was clear by how soft and smooth it felt out of the packaging and in use. When washing, I followed the care instructions and noticed that the pillowcase held up well and maintained its shape over time. (I found it helpful that it came with a mesh bag to use for laundering.)

A Well-Designed Fit

Unlike other options that I tested, this silk pillowcase is designed with a generous 8-inch flap to keep your pillow in place. According to trichologist Bridgette Hill, the fit of your silk pillowcase is very important; when it doesn’t fit correctly, it may expose the pillow and defeat the purpose of having that silk cover. Although there is no “right” type of enclosure, some people tend to prefer the look of envelope closures. I usually prefer a zippered one, but this fit my pillow well and kept it secure throughout testing.

Sustainably Sourced Fabric

The Fishers Finery pillowcase has an Oeko-Tex Made in Green certification, meaning it has been made in an environmentally friendly facility with socially responsible working conditions, and the product was tested for harmful substances. If product traceability and supply-chain transparency are important to you, Fishers Finery goes the extra mile to ensure their fabrics are held to the highest verifiable standards.

How Does The Fishers Finery Mulberry Silk Pillowcase Compare?

Compared to my best overall pick, the Slip Zippered Pillowcase, the Fishers Finery 25 Momme 100% Pure Mulberry Silk Pillowcase is more affordable and has a higher momme count. Both pillowcases use the highest-grade mulberry silk (6A), and both held up well in my time testing and washing them. The Fishers Finery pillowcase has an envelope flap closure that’s well designed and fits my pillow snugly. The Slip pillowcase, by comparison, has a zipper closure on the side. Both closures kept the interior pillow from moving around, so the enclosure type is really a matter of personal preference.

When testing some of the pillowcases, I did notice a difference in my skin and hair when I woke up in the morning. I consistently had smooth skin, soft hair and little to no tangles when using the Fishers Finery pillowcase. This experience was similar with the other winners, like the ones from Slip and Cozy Earth.

How I Tested The Best Silk Pillowcases

I started by reading every roundup and article I could find on the topic. I scoured reviews from customers and various publications to have a more diverse selection when it came to price, prints, colors and enclosures.

When all eight pillowcases arrived at my home, I assessed the quality of the silk by its look, feel and thickness. I also paid close attention to the fit of each silk pillowcase on my pillow. I slept on the pillowcases for a few nights each to determine how my skin and hair looked after being pressed against them all night. I washed them twice as instructed and again slept on them to see how the texture held up.

What Sizes And Colors Does The Fishers Finery Mulberry Silk Pillowcase Come In?

This pillowcase comes in three sizes and 13 colors, ranging from natural white to deep burgundy to silver. Most silk pillowcases come in two sizes (standard and king), so having a third option, like this one does, is an added benefit. The wide array of color options makes it easy to find a shade that complements your existing bedding.

What Type And Grade Of Silk Does Fishers Finery Offer?

The Fishers Finery pillowcase is made from grade 6A mulberry silk, which is the highest grade possible. There are different grades of silk, ranging from grade A, which is the highest quality, down to grade C. Higher-quality silk pillowcases like the Fishers Finery one are made out of 100% mulberry silk. Lower-cost options tend to be constructed from silk blends containing polyester.
